Love and Time

They say that time will fix it.
Time will heal a broken heart.
What they don't say is, that
day after day you will
still have to deal with the scars.
They say in time
it gets better.
I guess in some ways
it does.
Before the Love
you don't know the difference.
Now in some ways it's worse.
Funny how Love
can open up your life.
And sometimes
when it goes,
it leaves behind a hole.
Right there,
where the Love
once was.

Oh Well, Tell My Heart

I've always heard
it's a long way
from your head
to your heart.
You have your life.
I have mine.
I hope someday
they will combine.
In my heart
They already have.
In my heart
it's happy ever after,
full of laughter,
full of charm.
Arm in arm.
My heart has a mind
of it's own.
And a love
that goes on and on.
You tell me,
 let it be.
Too hard on you.
Too hard on me.
Oh well, tell my heart.

Come Live With Me

The Autumn breeze blows, bringing with it the scent of you.
Falling leaves color  my sight as vivid memories are brought into view.
On my way to work in the morning, I see a man riding his bike.You.
Driving down the road I see a daddy walking his little girl to the school bus.You.
What have you been up to?
Are you destined to dwell in my heart forever?
Are you going to roam  through my thoughts endlessly?
I would say, "Come live with me."  But you already do.

No Don't You Follow

Somewhere over Black Mountain, I heard you holler.
I just stopped to looked out at the view
"Shut up you liar." I knew it was you.
I'm leaving here and you better not follow.
Stay 'round here. Get lost in one of these hollows.
I'll be rid of your lying tongue.
I'm heading back to West Virginia to visit graves and family plots.
Those who loved me since I was young, they loved me true.
I will forget about you. Somewhere over some mountain,
Some creek, some hollow. I'll rid myself of you. Don't you follow.
I hear your voice trying too slow me. Trying to show me.
What we'll never know. Sometimes I think you make shit up.
To try to drive me insane. You're just a liar and if you come again.
I'll drop your ass in one of these rivers, a long winding river
Or maybe in an ocean along my way.
No don't you follow. I plan to rid myself of you today.

Ginny's Light

He goes to get her up for the day.
She gives him a pretty smile
He is pleasantly surprised.
He hasn't seen that in awhile.
His excitement is hard to contain.
A day off to a good start,
She could even remember his name.
And that's always good for his heart.
He might admit a flicker.
Some days it's gone a little dim.
But if the light ever dies,
You could never prove it by him.
Evening he prepares their dinner.
He sits down to feed her from a spoon.
Her favorite foods from his favorite memories.
He almost smells her favorite perfume.
Because Ginny still lives there
Behind those eyes.
As far as he's concerned
Her light never dies.
There they sit a perfect picture,
Captured by the same true love.
One she can't remember.
And one he can't forget.
He tucks her in tonight,
Raises the bed rail to prevent her fall.
He kisses her forehead before he leaves.
She remembers nothing. He remembers it all.
His dreams are all in color.
He relives the details of every kiss.
He always dreams of her.
Dreams where she knows who he is.

This Is Our Lie

I thought I saw a line.
I knew I saw a crease.
You think that after time I don't recognize these.
I look at your face and into your blue-green eyes.
There I saw a trace of another one of your lies.
You look at me and say "Honey, did you hear?."
I smile and say "Yes, dear."
I die a little more today.

Our Own Little World

It's not a fantasy to be ignored.
It's made for us to explore.
A place for us to call our own.
A place where only our love is known.
Our own little world is meant just for us.
Built by a love that we both trust.
So when we feel like we fall off track,
Or search for something that we lack.
Don't look down, look up and see.
There's another world for you and me.
Our own little world waiting to be explored.
Where I'll go with my hand in yours,
Where we found each other from the start.
Our own little world in our hearts.

Letter to My Child on Mother's Day

My child I loved you before I ever knew your name and before I saw your face.
I protected you and held you close to my heart before I ever held you in my arms.
Before I even knew how important you would become to me I already knew your worth.
Before I ever laid eyes on you or you ever graced the face of this earth,
I changed the way I thought of myself in relation to how it would affect you.
I changed the way I related to the world in relation to how it would reflect on you.
Before I even recognized my own full potential I started to  hope and plan for yours.
My child even before you entered the world you were already a major part of mine.
You have grown so much through the years and I've cheered and grieved each milestone
As you got closer and closer to moving out on your own,
I got torn between extreme pride and extreme dread.
I've suffered the wrath of knowing that I am overly paranoid.
And I have experienced the satisfaction of being overjoyed.
You have brought such power and weakness to my life and such strength and vulnerability.
I have reached beyond my limits in every way to accommodate you.
I have stretched beyond my capacity to have you fit in my life.
My child because of you my love knows no limits or boundaries.
My life is enriched with a mother's love that I have come to know as I know you more.
I can only hope that one day it will rain down from the heavens;
When I am no longer on this earth and it will comfort you.
Just as I receive comfort from my Mom who has left this earth,
I hope one day you will also receive comfort and strength from me.
My child I thank God every day to have the best part of me embodied in you.

Heaven to Hold

I never thought you were a safe bet.
It wouldn't to be easy winning you.
Winner takes all and that's worth the dues.
At the end of the game I just might fold.
But you were always heaven to hold.
Yes you were slippery when wet.
Still I could never forget.
You were always heaven to hold.
And if I could have your love.
I would risk everything to win everything.
To me it seemed worth the risk.
Because if you loved me at the end of the day.
Nothing ever could get in our way.
I might have to wait till I'm too old.
Or it may not happen at all.
I'll go ahead and make the call.
I'll wager my heart full of love
And ask for your heart of gold
It won't matter the outcome for I've already won.
Because you were always heaven to hold.

The Road Ahead

Driving down the road looking back
Hoping somehow I'll get on the right track.
I know the future is straight ahead.
Why do I look back instead?
I've got to have faith.
I've got to believe
That the God who got me this far
Isn't going to leave.
Instead of thinking about what I lack
I need to think about what I might receive.
Just around the corner a miracle
Could very well await.
I'll never know exactly my fate,
If I keep looking back on my way.
I won't see the future until it's my yesterday.
I've got to have faith.
I've got to believe
That the God who brought me this far
Isn't going to leave.
Instead of thinking about what I lack
I need to get ready for what I'm about to receive.
I will stop focusing on mistakes I've made
And start seeing the chances I could take.
I will live in the moment and learn while I do
And look forward to the future as it comes into view.
I'm going to have faith.
I'm going to believe
That the God who got me this far isn't going to leave.
I won't be thinking about what I lack
I'll be getting prepared for all that I'm sure to receive.

Love Quote

Love is two souls intertwined in such a way you cannot find their meeting place,  nor can you tear it apart. It is one embodiment of pure pleasure and pain, joy and sorrow.

Help For This Day

Expect God in all His varied forms. He is a master of disguise, a guiding star in the night, a lily left growing in the valley, or an answered prayer sent on the breath of an angel. God can use anyone as a channel of nourishment. Regardless of the channel, He is still the source.

How Did You Find Me?

I hear that song again on the radio. I think I know you. I think you know me.
Your voice is calling just to me. Singing that same old heart tugging melody.
How did you find me here? How do you know that and how can you see?
Into my soul you seem to go so easily. How do you know that about me?
I'm on a plane flying through the air. I'm resting my eyes and I hear that song again.
Just when I started to think it was all a dream someone next to me starts to sing.
Then I knew it was you singing that heart tugging melody. Where have you been?
Through the years I keep hearing you singing to me. Sweet words from an old friend.
I think I know you. Maybe it was a long time ago while I was walking in my sleep.
I went out wandering and walking the streets. I had tears in my eyes when you found me.
You carried me home. The rest of the night you stayed with me just singing quietly.
When I think very hard it doesn't make any sense. I think I know you. How could it be?
You're just a voice on the radio singing your song. I'm just a heart that you've touched.
With your music to give as a gift to the world, you could save a life with that heart tug.
You sing to the crowd or to yourself never thinking it means that much.
But it means the world to me. To think that someone else somewhere has felt as such.
How did you find me here? I thought I was hiding. How did you hear me here?
With my crying and hoping against hope, I want to stop trying. Then your voice rings clear.
And hope shines through my tears. I know that I got to get up and walk through my fears.
I have the faith of knowing that God will send the music to soothe and dry my tears.

Important Things to Remember

It's not the honors and the prizes and the fancy outsides of life that ultimately nourish our souls. It's the knowing that we can be trusted, that we never have to fear the truth, that the bedrock of our very being is firm.
****************************************************************************

All our lives, we rework the things from our childhood, like feeling good about ourselves, managing our angry feelings, being able to say good-bye to people we love.

I Need To Be More Like a Dog!

If you can start the day without caffeine,
If you can get going without pep pills,
If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,
If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles,
If you can eat the same food everyday and be grateful for it,
If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time,
If you can overlook it when those you love take it out on
you when, through no fault of yours, something goes wrong,
If you can take criticism and blame without resentment,
If you can ignore a friend's limited education and never correct him,
If you can resist treating a rich friend better than a poor friend,
If you can face the world without lies and deceit,
If you can conquer tension without medical help,
If you can relax without liquor,
If you can sleep without the aid of drugs,
If you can say honestly that deep in your heart you have no
prejudice against creed, color, religion or politics,

Then, my friend, you are almost as good as your dog

Pink Floyd Day

Hello Hello Hello is there anybody out there? I wish I could become comfortably numb. I know too much to hide the pain. Help. Am I going down? Or coming up for air? If you can see me going down, pull me up by my hair. If you see me breathing then just ignore this message. I must be alright for now.

Wordless

Very few times have I been without words
Words to express how I feel
Truth or otherwise
Words mostly come easily
Flowing, rhyming, reasoning,
Beckoning, denying, soothing, seducing
Always coming in a stream or a few
Well chosen lightly spoken words
Then again foot in mouth
That just slipped out
I forgot to bite my tongue
Or I forgot to think before I spoke
Or someone didn't get the joke
Or I was the joke because I spoke too soon
In any event words were always there
Friend or foe words go where I go
But sometimes words escape me
Thoughts jumble and nothing comes out right
This is one of those times
Words don't seem enough and nothing
Seems quite adequate to describe
How I feel right now

Real Life Drama

Innocence is often irrelevant
Cases are often dismissed on a technicality
Long before the acquittal
No verdict gets called or evidence recalled
No jury or courtroom
To get enthralled with the the case at hand
Something didn't get said
Something was misread a witness was mislead
A witness recanted
A lawyer was disenchanted or money exchanged hands
Maybe the case at hand
Fell into the wrong hands before any witness was called
Perhaps the scene of the crime
was left a mess The perimeter was less than stressed
The victim left in distress
Grew frightened and started to second guess
Her own better judgement
In any event no one was left to vent their frustrations
to an empty courtroom
After all this isn't television and few things can be wrapped
up in one hour or less

My Rumblings or Ramblings Today

Hold on until you find the light or the light finds you. Let go and walk into the next step. However meekly. However boldly. Sometimes it's hard to know what to do next. Pray and stay still and listen for God's voice. Move forward and use your own voice. Hoping all along that somehow they are one and the same. And if they are not then God will surely forgive you your humanness.  After all didn't He make us this way? Like I said sometimes it's hard. I already know, the difference could very well be one moment to the next. This too will soon be known.

Original Serenity Prayer

The Serenity Prayer
by Reinhold Niebuhr (1892-1971)
Complete, Unabridged, Original Version.

God, give us grace to accept with serenity
the things that cannot be changed,
Courage to change the things
which should be changed,
and the Wisdom to distinguish
the one from the other.

Living one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time,
Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace,
Taking, as Jesus did,
This sinful world as it is,
Not as I would have it,
Trusting that You will make all things right,
If I surrender to Your will,
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life,
And supremely happy with You forever in the next.

Amen.

Note About The Serenity Prayer's Real Author
You'll find many references online to some not being sure who really wrote the above prayer, some claiming that Reinhold Niebuhr was not actually the author. Many have researched it, including trying to find out if it even goes back to 500 A.D. Despite all the research, though, it still goes back to Niebuhr being the author.

Joy

Joy sleeps beneath the golden fruit.
I've seen her there.
She did not die.
She sleeps beneath the golden fruit.
I've seen her.
 She rests for now.

SG Wallace  2008

Hope springs eternal and Joy abounds. But not always. Sometimes we have to wait a long while. But it's still there.

The Story

Oh what a tangled lie we weave, when first we practice to deceive.
The biggest lie of all is truth we refuse to believe.
Oh what deceptive trap we set when we choose to forget.
All the future holds could be good that hasn't happened yet.
All my life I've always known I wasn't quite fully grown.
The blooms and fruit would come from the seeds I've sown.
Beneath the weeds and debris the broken glass and unpaid fees;
Could I clear it out enough to see through to the good in me?
Then I opened up my eyes. I think I finally realized
To appreciate laughter you sometimes have to cry.
To anticipate Joy you sometimes have to see it die.
Years ago I told myself I would put my heart on a shelf.
One day I would give it away to someone else.
But when the day did appear I knew I needed part of it for myself.
This is how my story goes. How I got here God only knows.
Truth or lies no one knows.  But while I'm alive it continues to grow.

The Pear

I saw the pear.
Were you willing to share?
The taste of the fresh fruit;
Seems so much better,
when shared by two.
Two who knew
that natures gift of
sweet luscious fruit
was made to be savored.
Enjoying the flavor
of dancing summer raindrops
on our tongues.
In the dead of Winter.
Yes, we shared the pear.
The memory gives life to fantasy now.
When I'm here
and you are there.
Another pear,
covered in chocolate.
I can lick it
Taste it melting
on my lips and tongue.
I can savor it.
Love the flavor of it
running down my chin.
While I bite into the sweet succulent pear
there beneath the chocolate
the release of pear juice
let loose
to dance free on my tongue
like summer raindrops
in the dead of winter.
A sweet treat
a nourishing, indulgence
to say the least.
Who knew ?
A pear would come back to haunt me
and to taunt me.
Would come back to taunt me like this
Like a kiss.
The memories Heaven and Hell.
Sometimes it's hard to tell.
Bittersweet fantasies of sweetness and bliss.

SG Wallace 2008

More memories.....

Golden

For a little while time was golden. For a moment the fruit was juicy and sweet
For a day or so I knew the sweetest man.
Honey dripped from his lips and I licked and savored every drop.
Goodness oozed from his pores.
To be near him was more than I could stand. So I would sit - sit near him.
I would walk. Walk close to him.
I would follow him just to be near him again. For a little while time was golden.
For a day or so. Maybe longer.
Time is no longer on my side. So maybe it was longer.
I know it wasn't long enough.

Timeless

Yes, time goes on. The earth moves.
The moon waxes and wanes, wanes and waxes.
Time goes on. People keep paying their taxes.
Time goes on. The lines are drawn on my face,
leaving the trace of this different age.
My heart doesn't change. In my sleep I call your name.
In my dreams my love is the same.
I keep loving you over and over again.
Time goes on but my heart doesn't change.

Our Love

Our love breathes the life into my very heart and soul
I can walk away but I can never go
I cheer you my darling if you can forget me
I plead you my love never regret me
If you wish then I wish your heart to grow wings and fly
away today
Take your love with you but leave ours here to stay
As I live and breathe, I will hold our love true
So fly. So fly. Fly away today.
Leave our love with me where it is safe

SG Wallace

His Gift

Every flower is not a rose. Heaven knows.
Some things require a lot of care and cultivation.
I won't argue with that.
Specifics are nice when you're dealing with facts.
But wildflowers, I love them.
All of the pretty little flowers with their pretty faces,
Popping out everywhere in the strangest of places.
I've always been intrigued. Indeed.
That God would send a tiny seed to grow there.
Of all the places they could land they stop there.
Wildflowers are like feelings. They seem so random at times.
But it all makes sense to Our Creator.
In the great big tapestry of life filled with heartache, pain and strife:
How the Love gets sewn into the seams and blooms like a dream;
Out of control. To color our world. Wherever we are.
Wherever we are.

Love Finds It's Own

Wildflowers can grow on a broken heart and in the cracks of the sidewalks when Winter's thaw starts
Jonquils can bloom long after the old homestead is gone
Love can shine in a darkened room even when the curtains are drawn
So if you find Love somewhere besides with me then I guess it just wasn't meant to be
But if you try to make rhythm where there's not any rhyme / then just like me you'll be wasting your time
Because if two people are meant to be together then true love is going to grow regardless of whether...
You ignore or work the plot. True Love is going to grow with what it's got
A tiny little seed pushes through the cold hard ground searching for the light for which it is bound
It's a love story that just won't die. And you say move on with your life. Believe me I try.
Don't we all want our own happy ending? Love has it's own message it keeps sending.

Good morning

I'm heading out of town today. I wish I would have prepared for this blog a little better. But I didn't so please bear with me while I get myself going. Hopefully in time the creative juices will start flowing. Have a good day and I'll try to do the same. I will keep working at it. I do need an outlet.

Poem for Today

Hope

by S G Wallace
Widen your horizons, open your scope.\Don't be bound by indecision.\Don't give up on hope.\By narrowing yourself to \your tunnel vision,\you can't help yourself, to see beyond the need.\To fulfill yourself, you must succeed\in looking at yourself \and the world from a different point\of view. Get outside of you.\Get inside your heart and out of your head.\Look at it all at another time of day\in another way. besides the usual way.\However, you must approach the same life\from a different angle, if you want the\answers to untangle.\And at just the right time, you might find.\You get a grip on exactly what you need\to succeed one more day.\And that's all we have anyway.
