I Need To Be More Like a Dog!

If you can start the day without caffeine,
If you can get going without pep pills,
If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,
If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles,
If you can eat the same food everyday and be grateful for it,
If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time,
If you can overlook it when those you love take it out on
you when, through no fault of yours, something goes wrong,
If you can take criticism and blame without resentment,
If you can ignore a friend's limited education and never correct him,
If you can resist treating a rich friend better than a poor friend,
If you can face the world without lies and deceit,
If you can conquer tension without medical help,
If you can relax without liquor,
If you can sleep without the aid of drugs,
If you can say honestly that deep in your heart you have no
prejudice against creed, color, religion or politics,

Then, my friend, you are almost as good as your dog

Pink Floyd Day

Hello Hello Hello is there anybody out there? I wish I could become comfortably numb. I know too much to hide the pain. Help. Am I going down? Or coming up for air? If you can see me going down, pull me up by my hair. If you see me breathing then just ignore this message. I must be alright for now.

Wordless

Very few times have I been without words
Words to express how I feel
Truth or otherwise
Words mostly come easily
Flowing, rhyming, reasoning,
Beckoning, denying, soothing, seducing
Always coming in a stream or a few
Well chosen lightly spoken words
Then again foot in mouth
That just slipped out
I forgot to bite my tongue
Or I forgot to think before I spoke
Or someone didn't get the joke
Or I was the joke because I spoke too soon
In any event words were always there
Friend or foe words go where I go
But sometimes words escape me
Thoughts jumble and nothing comes out right
This is one of those times
Words don't seem enough and nothing
Seems quite adequate to describe
How I feel right now

Real Life Drama

Innocence is often irrelevant
Cases are often dismissed on a technicality
Long before the acquittal
No verdict gets called or evidence recalled
No jury or courtroom
To get enthralled with the the case at hand
Something didn't get said
Something was misread a witness was mislead
A witness recanted
A lawyer was disenchanted or money exchanged hands
Maybe the case at hand
Fell into the wrong hands before any witness was called
Perhaps the scene of the crime
was left a mess The perimeter was less than stressed
The victim left in distress
Grew frightened and started to second guess
Her own better judgement
In any event no one was left to vent their frustrations
to an empty courtroom
After all this isn't television and few things can be wrapped
up in one hour or less

My Rumblings or Ramblings Today

Hold on until you find the light or the light finds you. Let go and walk into the next step. However meekly. However boldly. Sometimes it's hard to know what to do next. Pray and stay still and listen for God's voice. Move forward and use your own voice. Hoping all along that somehow they are one and the same. And if they are not then God will surely forgive you your humanness.  After all didn't He make us this way? Like I said sometimes it's hard. I already know, the difference could very well be one moment to the next. This too will soon be known.

Original Serenity Prayer

The Serenity Prayer
by Reinhold Niebuhr (1892-1971)
Complete, Unabridged, Original Version.

God, give us grace to accept with serenity
the things that cannot be changed,
Courage to change the things
which should be changed,
and the Wisdom to distinguish
the one from the other.

Living one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time,
Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace,
Taking, as Jesus did,
This sinful world as it is,
Not as I would have it,
Trusting that You will make all things right,
If I surrender to Your will,
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life,
And supremely happy with You forever in the next.

Amen.

Note About The Serenity Prayer's Real Author
You'll find many references online to some not being sure who really wrote the above prayer, some claiming that Reinhold Niebuhr was not actually the author. Many have researched it, including trying to find out if it even goes back to 500 A.D. Despite all the research, though, it still goes back to Niebuhr being the author.

Joy

Joy sleeps beneath the golden fruit.
I've seen her there.
She did not die.
She sleeps beneath the golden fruit.
I've seen her.
 She rests for now.

SG Wallace  2008

Hope springs eternal and Joy abounds. But not always. Sometimes we have to wait a long while. But it's still there.

The Story

Oh what a tangled lie we weave, when first we practice to deceive.
The biggest lie of all is truth we refuse to believe.
Oh what deceptive trap we set when we choose to forget.
All the future holds could be good that hasn't happened yet.
All my life I've always known I wasn't quite fully grown.
The blooms and fruit would come from the seeds I've sown.
Beneath the weeds and debris the broken glass and unpaid fees;
Could I clear it out enough to see through to the good in me?
Then I opened up my eyes. I think I finally realized
To appreciate laughter you sometimes have to cry.
To anticipate Joy you sometimes have to see it die.
Years ago I told myself I would put my heart on a shelf.
One day I would give it away to someone else.
But when the day did appear I knew I needed part of it for myself.
This is how my story goes. How I got here God only knows.
Truth or lies no one knows.  But while I'm alive it continues to grow.

The Pear

I saw the pear.
Were you willing to share?
The taste of the fresh fruit;
Seems so much better,
when shared by two.
Two who knew
that natures gift of
sweet luscious fruit
was made to be savored.
Enjoying the flavor
of dancing summer raindrops
on our tongues.
In the dead of Winter.
Yes, we shared the pear.
The memory gives life to fantasy now.
When I'm here
and you are there.
Another pear,
covered in chocolate.
I can lick it
Taste it melting
on my lips and tongue.
I can savor it.
Love the flavor of it
running down my chin.
While I bite into the sweet succulent pear
there beneath the chocolate
the release of pear juice
let loose
to dance free on my tongue
like summer raindrops
in the dead of winter.
A sweet treat
a nourishing, indulgence
to say the least.
Who knew ?
A pear would come back to haunt me
and to taunt me.
Would come back to taunt me like this
Like a kiss.
The memories Heaven and Hell.
Sometimes it's hard to tell.
Bittersweet fantasies of sweetness and bliss.

More memories.....

Golden

For a little while time was golden. For a moment the fruit was juicy and sweet
For a day or so I knew the sweetest man.
Honey dripped from his lips and I licked and savored every drop.
Goodness oozed from his pores.
To be near him was more than I could stand. So I would sit - sit near him.
I would walk. Walk close to him.
I would follow him just to be near him again. For a little while time was golden.
For a day or so. Maybe longer.
Time is no longer on my side. So maybe it was longer.
I know it wasn't long enough.

Timeless

Yes, time goes on. The earth moves.
The moon waxes and wanes, wanes and waxes.
Time goes on. People keep paying their taxes.
Time goes on. The lines are drawn on my face,
leaving the trace of this different age.
My heart doesn't change. In my sleep I call your name.
In my dreams my love is the same.
I keep loving you over and over again.
Time goes on but my heart doesn't change.

Yay! I did it.

I passed the exam. It's Such a relief to have that out of the way. Right now I'm fighting a cold. I'll try to write some soon.
